This island, nicknamed “Ré la Blanche” because of the white walls of its houses, offers a total change of scenery and thousands of discoveries. Situated 1h30 from Les Violettes campsite, the Ile de Ré is one of the jewels of the Atlantic coast.

Its ten villages take you through its beaches, salt marshes, ports, forests and marinas.

Visit the famous 57-metre high Baleines lighthouse, which gives you a great view of the ocean. Immerse yourself in the heart of the Middle Ages by visiting the Vauban citadel, with its enclosure and its two ports, as well as the Fort de la Prée located in La Flotte.

The Ile de Ré and its beautiful beaches

Enjoy the beaches of the Ile de Ré which stretch over 100 km. The fine sandy beaches are to the south and west of the island (Bois Plage, La Couarde) protected by dunes and forests. To the north and east, more rocky beaches such as those of Saint Martin and La Flotte.

The island of Ré also has 110 km of cycle paths. Cross them and discover the salt marshes, the vineyards, the wild moors and take short breaks to enjoy the local products such as oysters and the famous potato!

Finally, conclude this enchanting day with a stroll through the ports and especially Saint Martin en Ré, the island’s little jewel. Stroll the shopping streets in search of local treasures and enjoy an ice cream on the harbour, admiring the beauty of the island.
